Great service offered by Humane Society

Put hundreds of dogs, cats and their masters together on a warm Saturday afternoon and what do you get? A mess? NO – you get one of the best services the Clay County Humane Society could provide for the people of Clay County.
For the past two Saturdays, the Society, with the help of Dr. Rick Rodgers, DVM offered immunizations at a vastly discounted cost to area pet owners.
They are to be highly commended for this service.
The Humane Society has been in the news repeatedly as it seeks funding to maintain its great service. The Brazil Times also put a photo from last week’s shot clinic on the front page to demonstrate what it’s all about – keeping humans and pets safe from the effects of distemper, rabies, feline leukemia and other nasty diseases.
My wife, Linda, and I were amazed at how well-behaved the pets (and their masters) were as we stood in line at the Brazil Armory’s gymnasium, awaiting Butterball’s and Bonnie’s shots. A couple of the dogs insisted on “talking” rather loudly, but the pets and the people alike were patient, considerate and well-behaved.
This is just another of many examples one can point to of the benefits of living in Brazil and Clay County.
