Too many billboards?

Tuesday night, City Councilman Martin Beasley asked the council to consider the number of billboards in downtown Brazil. He has had calls concerning them.
Mayor Tom Arthur concurred, saying he had also received calls.
One sign at the site of the new Walgreens building on National Avenue was removed only to be replaced by one twice as large as the first.
It was suggested during the brief discussion the city would not eliminate billboards downtown, but control the number and size.
“We don’t want to limit income people are receiving for the signs,” said Councilman Beasley.
“But I doubt any of them are getting rich from the signs,” said the mayor.
